Ann-Marie MacDonald - Teaching artist, Playwriting

I am an actor, novelist, playwright, librettist, television host and narrator. I graduated from the Acting Program of NTS in 1980. My novels are published and translated internationally: Fall On Your Knees, The Way the Crow Flies, Adult Onset. My plays are published and produced internationally: Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juilet), Belle Moral: A Natural History, Nigredo Hotel (I wrote the libretto for this chamber opera composed by Nic Gotham), Anything That Moves (I wrote the book and lyrics for this musical composed by Allan Cole); collective creations include This is For You Anna, The Attic, The Pearls and Three Fine Girls, Nancy Drew: Clue in the Fast Lane. I have acted on stages across the country, notably in As You Like It (Dream in High Park), Top Girls (Soulpepper), and Cloud Nine (Mirvish Productions). I have acted in numerous films and TV series, notably, Where the Spirit Lives, Better Than Chocolate, I've Heard the Mermaids Singing, The L Word. I hosted CBC's Life and Times for seven years, and for eight years I hosted and narrated CBC's Doc Zone. I am an Officer of the Order of Canada.
