Matthew Waddell - teaching artist in Production Design and Technical Arts

Matthew Waddell is a digital artist and educator based in Calgary, Canada. He has been involved in the digital arts for nearly two decades specializing in creative coding, 3D animation, projection mapping, interactive installations, and audiovisual design for live performance.

His art practice explores the complexities of modern technology and the impact of a tech-obsessed culture on the finite human form.

Matthew's approach to art-making is a unique blend of the organic and synthetic, as he creates images, animations, and interactive environments that push the boundaries of the traditional analog world and offer new perspectives through a digital lens.

Matthew is also a co-founder of Axis Z Media Arts (AZMA), a digital arts studio specializing in large-scale interactive installations and promotes digital arts literacy in Calgary.
