Communications Director

Job Description

The Communications Director who will join our team will be responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies for all of NTS’ activities, including strategies for recruiting our future students. They will also have to design and deploy corporate strategies to promote and strengthen the reputation of the organization and its brand image at the local and national levels, targeting various audiences, including students, applicants, the national cultural community, partners and donors, the media and influencers, as well as employees.

 

Reporting to the CEO, the candidate selected for this position will:

 

  • Develop NTS’ overall objectives and strategies in terms of its communications (internal and external), public relations and national brand image, implement the communications plan and regularly report on activities, in particular through an annual report that includes various performance indicators;

  • Create innovative communication strategies, such as by implementing multi-channel promotional campaigns, and help maintain NTS’ distinctive voice in the wider social dialogue on arts and culture to develop the role that NTS plays in catalyzing these discussions and debates;

  • Develop and implement innovative, inclusive, effective recruitment strategies to attract diverse high-potential applicants to our various pedagogical programs, both ongoing and under development, and develop the School’s brand image as the vocational education institution of choice for theatre artists from all backgrounds;

  • In close collaboration with the philanthropic development team, collaborate in the development of communications in support of an inspiring donor journey, the various campaigns, the alumni engagement program and the school’s fundraising activities;

  • Advise the CEO and the various managers on everything related to the communications, positioning and visibility of the institution, the Monument-National, its directors and its representatives, at the local and national levels;

  • Work closely with the Monument-National operations director to coordinate and develop the ticketing platform in the aim of creating a data ecosystem to maximize revenue;

  • Work closely with the various NTS departments in order to align internal messages and initiatives with organizational goals and promote transparent, effective internal communication;

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of the communications department employees and external collaborators in order to produce high-quality communications on time and on budget;

  • Supervise and collaborate directly in the writing, translation, revision and distribution of all of the school’s written communications on all platforms;

  • Manage the budgets allocated to marketing and all the activities of the communications department;

  • Plan and coordinate NTS’ participation in various public events for the purpose of achieving its communication goals;

  • Any other tasks related to the mandate of this position or assigned by the CEO.

Experience and skills required

  • University degree in communications, marketing or other relevant disciplines, or equivalent experience;

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a similar field/position;

  • A passion for theatre and arts and culture, a desire to pursue ambitious goals in the service of this passion, and knowledge of the artistic community and the media;

  • Excellent command of French and English, both oral and written;

  • Ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment;

  • Good understanding of technological tools used in communications and marketing (Facebook business manager, Google Ads, customer journeys,);

  • Excellent communication and writing skills;

  • Excellent judgment, strong initiative, a good sense of priorities, and very good interpersonal and personnel management skills;

  • Keen political acumen and ability to dialogue with various parties, from artists to government and institutional partners;

  • Ability to initiate and manage a variety of projects using the best available resources at the lowest cost;

  • Analytical and synthesis skills, curiosity, rigor, and attention to detail.
