JOB OFFER: Building Manager

The National Theatre School of Canada is seeking a qualified and dynamic individual to oversee the management of all activities related to the maintenance and upkeep of buildings and equipment. Reporting to the Chief of Operations, the Building Manager will ensure that the facilities and infrastructure are in excellent condition, operate smoothly, and comply with all safety and regulatory standards. The candidate must also demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, resourcefulness, initiative, as well as innovation and attention to detail.

 

RESPONSABILITIES

The selected candidate will be responsible for performing the following tasks:

  • Plan and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance work to ensure the safety and proper condition of the facilities;

  • Select, coordinate, and supervise suppliers and contractors for repairs and maintenance work;

  • Ensure the proper functioning of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, as well as electrical and plumbing equipment, and oversee roof inspections and track structural anomalies;

  • Prepare bids for urgent and annual maintenance work;

  • Monitor the allocated budget for building maintenance and repairs, ensuring cost optimization;

  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and service providers, and maintain good relationships with them;

  • Keep maintenance operations, incident, and inspection records up to date;

  • Follow up on government and primary insurer inspections;

  • Participate in the safety committee and implement its decisions;

  • Ensure compliance with fire safety standards, local regulations, and internal policies, and oversee the evacuation committee, including evacuation drills;

  • Collaborate with on-site managers outside the school's regular hours;

  • Perform necessary repairs as required;

  • Collaborate with other school departments (store, technical management, etc.).

EDUCATION AND SKILLS

  • Studies in a field related to the position;

  • Relevant experience in a similar role;

  • Class 5 driver's license;

  • Proficiency in both official languages;

  • General knowledge of construction, infrastructure, and building management;

  • Strong manual skills;

  • Ability to solve problems and find effective solutions;

  • Ability to manage staff;

  • Ability to easily establish trust.
