Class Description

Working from a single play, participants will dive deeply into text analysis, character development, and moment-to-moment listening, building a shared understanding of the world of the play. The work is done through a combination of seated “Table Work” and predominantly on-your-feet exploration.

Through rehearsal, feedback, and an emphasis on ensemble exploration, actors will refine their craft, strengthen their instincts, and develop nuanced, connected performances. The course culminates in an open class presentation of selected scenes for invited guests.

Artist-facilitator: Samantha Bitonti

Samantha Bitonti (she/her) is an actor, creator, and instructor whose work is rooted in embodied movement, dramaturgy, and deep listening. She holds a BFA in Theatre Performance from Concordia University and is known as a highly technical actor who brings rigour, curiosity, and care into every workspace. Her practice is driven by a love of story and an aptitude for asking precise, generous questions to get to the heart of the work.

Samantha creates across disciplines, drawing on clown, puppetry, and heightened text to craft playful, emotionally grounded performances. Her artistic pursuits include introducing classical music to young audiences through storytelling and clown (Platypus Theatre), exploring Shakespeare in contemporary performance contexts (Repercussion Theatre), and teaching drama at the National Theatre School and Geordie Theatre School. As an instructor, she fosters supportive, collaborative environments that empower people of all ages to learn, connect, and perform with confidence.
