Soheil Parsa - Teaching-artist, Acting program

Soheil Parsa is an Iranian Canadian theatre artist based in Toronto, widely recognized for his distinctive contributions to contemporary performance. Born in Iran, he left the country following the 1979 Islamic Revolution and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1984. He is the co-founder and former artistic director of Modern Times Stage Company, where he developed a celebrated body of work over more than three decades. Since 1989, Soheil has directed over fifty productions in Canada and internationally.

His work has been honoured with eight Dora Mavor Moore Awards, the Barbara Hamilton Memorial Award, the Canadian Association for Theatre Research Honorary Member Award, and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal—recognition of his singular impact on Canadian theatre. Selected past productions include Blood Wedding, The House of Bernarda Alba, The Chairs, The Cherry Orchard, Waiting for Godot, Macbeth, Hamlet, David Paquet’s Wildfire, Daniel MacIvor’s Monster, and Guillermo Verdecchia’s Feast.
