Mariló Núñez

Marilo Nuñez is a Chilean-Canadian director, dramaturge, playwright, and scholar. She is a recipient of the Johanna Metcalf Performing Arts Award in Theatre and the Hamilton Arts Award in Theatre for Established Artists.

She was McMaster University’s first Playwright-in-Residence in 2018. She has been a Guest Director at the University of Winnipeg, Director/Dramaturge as part of the Tarragon Theatre/ TMU collaboration Project X, Dramaturge-in-Residence as part of the Polyphonic Playwright Residency with Rice & Beans Theatre, and Dramaturge-in-Residence as part of the PARC Playwright Residency.

Her collaboration with Hamilton-based performance artist and musician Tor Lukasik-Foss has included New Wave Your Behaviour (Hamilton, Victoria, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Kingston Fringes) and, most recently, Yodelling Ranger. She teaches playwriting at theatres and universities across the country using the Fornes Method.

She was the founding Artistic Director of Alameda Theatre Company, a company dedicated to developing the new work of Latinx Canadian playwrights.
