50 Years of the Écriture dramatique Program
In 2025, as the National Theatre School of Canada celebrates its 65th anniversary, another major milestone highlights the richness of its history: the 50th anniversary of the Écriture dramatique Program.
A cornerstone of Quebec and French Canadian theatre, this program has trained generations of writers who have helped shape our artistic landscape. This significant anniversary was celebrated during a memorable evening, bringing together students, graduates, faculty members, and former directors in an atmosphere filled with pride and recognition.
Among those in attendance, Diane Pavlovic — Director of the program for the past 25 years — as well as Elizabeth Bourget, the program’s very first graduate, shared reflections on the evolution and lasting impact of this unique training.
Between reunions, memories, and celebrations, the evening highlighted the vitality of an engaged artistic community and the importance of continuing to support emerging voices.
