Pan-Canadian Tour of the French Section
In 2026, the NTS continues its commitment to the development and promotion of francophone artists across the country with the second edition of its French Section’s pan-Canadian tour. For the second consecutive year, this initiative aims to build lasting connections with francophone communities outside Quebec, allowing the School to go directly into the field to offer workshops and engage with young talent.
The tour serves as an essential space for sharing, fostering a deeper understanding of the realities and needs of the country’s various francophone theatre communities. In addition to creative activities, presentation panels are organized, enriched by the participation of graduates from the regions visited. These alumni share their journeys and reflect on the impact their training has had on their artistic practice and their home communities.
This year began in Moncton, in collaboration with the Université de Moncton, where directing and lighting workshops were offered. The team then stopped in Kingston, in partnership with Théâtre Action, to introduce stagecraft and puppetry to many secondary school students. In Caraquet, as part of the Festival de théâtre jeunesse en Acadie and in collaboration with the Théâtre populaire d’Acadie, participants explored performance and scenography. Finally, the tour will conclude in Winnipeg in May, in partnership with the Théâtre Cercle Molière.
The School warmly thanks Le ministère de la Langue française du gouvernement du Quebec for its commitment to promoting francophone culture across Canada.
