Mandate Terms
- Mandate effective during the school year (August to June), starting during the 2026-2027 school year;
- Initial two-year mandate, with possibility of renewal;
- Workload: 15 to 20 hours per week, flexible around your artistic commitments;
- Conditions: Contract basis, $55/hour
Scope of the Mandate
Working in close collaboration with both Executive Artistic Directors and the Indigenous Advisory Circle, the person will play a key role in coordinating the Indigenous Artists in Residence Programs and support the New Pathways Program.
The mandate includes coordinating the Indigenous Artists in Residence Program, in collaboration with the Residencies Director and pedagogical teams. More specifically:
- Oversee the pedagogical journey of the residency in collaboration with the resident(s)
- Coordinate schedules and book required spaces, as needed
- Hire and draft contracts for teaching artists, as needed
- Liaise with other program directors
- Manage communications with residents and internal and external resources
- In concert with the relevant program directors, help facilitate the New Pathways Program;
- Participate in regular meetings with the Indigenous Advisory Circle;
- In collaboration with student services, the Indigenous Advisory Circle and the Elder in residence, direct students and staff from Indigenous communities to the appropriate resources and services within NTS.
Qualifications
- Belonging to in a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit community and knowledge of the realities of Indigenous communities nationally;
- Artistic experience and a strong understanding of the performing arts sector; knowledge of theatre and pedagogy;
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects and adapt quickly to new situations;
- Strong communication and presentation skills;
- Creative and proactive approach; ability to generate innovative ideas;
- Work at NTS takes place equally in French and English. A working knowledge of both languages is needed to carry out this mandate effectively. We recognize the colonial weight this carries and welcome applicants to share the full range of languages they bring. Knowledge of one or more Indigenous languages is an asset.
