Julie Vallée-Léger - Teaching Artist, Set & Costume Design

Julie Vallée-Léger graduated from the Scenography Program at the National Theatre School of Canada in 2002.

She further developed her practice by assisting set designers Jean Rabasse at Cirque du Soleil and Stéphane Roy on music-hall and opera projects. She subsequently worked as a decorator on numerous film and television productions, and as an exhibition designer with architecture firms Lupien et Matteau and GSM Project.

Her practice focuses on theatrical scenography and stage writing, as well as research in object theatre and the manipulation of raw materials.

She has designed sets for numerous theatre companies, most notably Théâtre de la Pire Espèce, with which she has been experimenting and creating since 2007, and Théâtre Le Clou!, with which she has collaborated since 2012. She has also created work with Mammifères, Système Kangourou, the Centre du Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui (CTD’A), Kleine Compagnie, La Banquette arrière, and Mandoline Hybride, as well as for a variety of artistic events, particularly at Théâtre Aux Écuries.

She is also active in the illustration of printed objects, with linocut as her preferred technique.
