Florence Cornet - Teaching Artist, Set & Costume Design

For more than 40 years, Florence has practiced and taught stage makeup, primarily in the worlds of theatre and live performance. She has worked with renowned directors including Angela Konrad, Edith Patenaude, Denis Marleau, Dominique Champagne, Claude Poissant, Robert Lepage, René Richard Cyr, and François Girard, to name but a few.

In addition to designing the makeup for some of the great characters in the dramatic repertoire on Montreal’s major cultural stages, she collaborates with the Schulich School on its opera productions at McGill University. She also worked in television and film for approximately 15 years and has taught at several theatre schools across Quebec. She continues to teach, notably at the National Theatre School of Canada.

Her reputation and expertise led her to Cirque du Soleil, where she worked as a makeup designer for the productions KOOZA and Michael Jackson ONE – The Immortal World Tour. From 2015 to 2019, she also served as a designer for the Série Hommage productions presented at the Amphithéâtre Cogeco in Trois-Rivières.

The stage is a privileged space for creation and expression. Whether for theatre, dance, music, or any other form of live performance, enhancing and transforming the face is an art that deeply moves me, because it speaks to what is most human and to the soul.
