Jonathan Patterson - Head of Music

Based in Montréal, Jonathan is a multidisciplinary artist and arts educator whose work spans from theatre to opera to musicals. In addition to his position as Interim Head of Music at the National Theatre School, Jonathan has been on the faculty of Opera McGill at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University since 2010, serving as Acting Director of Opera Studies during the 2015 & 2017 seasons; he teaches musical theatre classes at St. George’s High School and the Segal Centre Academy, choreographs the award-winning Lyric Theatre Singers & Royal West Academy, and has a very busy private voice studio. 

Jonathan is also a much sought-after actor, director, choreographer, and music director across Canada. Some recent credits include: Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Opera McGill, dir); In Memoriam: The Wake of Cheddar Fandango (Sermo Scomber Theatre/Centaur Theatre Portico Project, Carlyle); Schwartz’s: The Musical (Centaur Theatre, co-director), The Last Wife (Centaur, coach to M. Gabrielli); Million Dollar Quartet (Thousand Islands Playhouse/Sudbury Theatre Centre, music dir/Sam Phillips).
