Art Apart: Jon After Hours
Full performance coming soon!
This project has been presented on YouTube, May 1st, 8pm central
About the project
Combining the gimmicks and humour of modern hosts, and the irresponsible drunkenness of the late night icons before them, Jon After Hours is the only talk show where the host is hammered – and the guest is sober.
Against everyone's better judgment, it's Jon After Hours! On the internet! Combining the gimmicks and humour (and living room sets) of modern hosts, and the irresponsible drunkenness of the late night icons before them, Jon After Hours is a late-night talk show for the new world. Combining sketch, improv, drag, and theatre, this show sets out to parody mainstream pop culture through the lens of queer identity and defeat Jimmy Fallon once and for all. With special guests actor-comedian Anjali Sandhu and drag queen-documentarian Contessa Lestrange.
This project received financial support from the National Theatre School of Canada via the Art Apart program, an emergency fund for emerging artists who are affected by physical distancing due to coronavirus (COVID-19).
About the artist
Jonathan Mourant is a transdisciplinary performer, producer, and also a robot learning how to be human. They have been improvising for just under a decade and have performed and learned at festivals and workshops across Canada, including the Winnipeg Improv Festival and Toronto SketchFest. This year, Jonathan wrote and directed Here Together for the 2019 Winnipeg Fringe Festival and created Jon After Hours, an experimental late-night talk show featuring local personalities. Recently, they have begun performing drag as Nora Vision, and are thrilled at the opportunities to combine improv, theatre, and drag into their own unique performance.
