About the project

At Last! follows singer Etta James as she is put in prison on heroin possession. A closer look at Etta James' struggling against the powers of addiction. At Last! is a closer look at Etta James' struggling against the powers of addition and depression, while also fighting to embrace her influence and place in the history of rock and roll and blues music.

My piece moves in and out of loud extremes from voice overs of prison guards, singing and moaning to extreme silence and is structured around Etta responding to a fan’s letter in prison.

Credits: The Etta James Story: A Rage to Survive by Etta James and David Ritz and the song Feeling Uneasy by Etta James are part of the script of this piece.
