TEC – March Break Musical Theatre Bootcamp for Youth
As a recent graduate of the National Theatre School’s Directing Program, Danik McAfee has observed the growing impact of inflation on families, often forcing them to sacrifice extracurricular activities like the performing arts. For Danik, musical theatre was a crucial space for self-expression, confidence-building, and community, particularly as a queer youth. Aware of how fortunate he was to have access to such opportunities, Danik is dedicated to offering similar experiences to youth who may not have the financial means to engage in the arts.
This project aims to establish a free, week-long Musical Theatre Bootcamp for Youth in Gatineau, Québec. The program will provide a creative outlet for young people aged 12–17, offering workshops in singing, acting, and movement. With 12–20 participants, the bootcamp will emphasize teamwork, confidence-building, and self-expression, culminating in a showcase performance. The goal is to create an inclusive environment where youth can explore their potential, form connections, and leave feeling empowered.
