Rahul Gandhi - Artistic Leadership Resident 2026
Rahul Gandhi is an award-winning trilingual actor, director, creator, and producer born, raised, and located in Montreal. He is a first-generation Canadian-Indian.
His journey in the arts has taken him to several Canadian provinces, as well as to the UK. Notable credits include: “Rafi” in What Rough Beast (Centaur Theatre Brave New Looks), for which he was nominated for Outstanding Lead Performance at the Montreal English Theatre Awards, and “Miles” in The Drawer Boy (Watermark Theatre). Notable directing credits include Anusree Roy’s Letters to My Grandma, as well as Stephen Adly Guirgis’ Motherfcker with the Hat*, which was nominated for Outstanding Production at the 2024 METAs. Notable arts work includes being part of the leadership for the Quebec Drama Federation, a provincial membership-based arts service organization, as well as holding a seat on the Professional Association of Canadian Theatre’s board of directors, co-chairing the advocacy portfolio. He is an alumnus of Black Theatre Workshop’s Artistic Mentorship Program (2019–2020). In terms of formal education: a BFA with Honours in Acting for the Theatre, and a Graduate Diploma in Communication Studies, both from Concordia University.
Rahul Gandhi, in association with A Broke Theatre, was the recipient of the first-ever Innovation Award at the 2024 Montreal English Theatre Awards for his work curating and producing Shruti Vol. I–IV. Now completing its second season, Shruti blends South Asian theatre practices with Western theatre practices, all while forging community. Shruti is a play-development series that has engaged over 70 writers, actors, directors, and other artists to date.
