Mirza Sarhon Sunain - Teaching Directing

Mirza Sarhan is a multilingual emerging actor and filmmaker based in Toronto and Dubai. He is a recent graduate of the Acting programme at the National Theatre School of Canada. As a ‘Third Culture Kid’ born in India and raised in Saudi Arabia before moving to Croatia, he confronts Islamophobia and xenophobia through storytelling while fostering collaborative spaces for his community. Mirza made his theatrical debut with ‘Trident Moon’, co-produced by the National Arts Centre and Crow’s Theatre in Toronto and Ottawa. ‘Trident Moon’ was nominated for Best New Play at the Dora Awards 2025. His short documentary ‘Majlis’ is scheduled for release in 2025. ‘Majlis’ was selected for the Creation Assistance Programme at PRIM and is part of the Creation and Research Lab at the Centre for Arts and Social Innovation in Montreal. Mirza is currently developing a new play and a pilot for his TV series.
