Ana Claudia Pitol - Artistic Leadership Resident 2026
Ana Claudia Pitol is a dynamic Brazilian arts producer and administrator who has rapidly established herself as a key figure in the St. John’s, NL, theatre community. Ana boldly shifted her career focus from teaching history (where she earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree and taught from 2010 to 2022) to dedicate herself to the performing arts upon arriving in Canada in 2022.
Ana’s leadership has already demonstrated significant impact: in one year, she led a period of substantial growth at WWF, securing operational funding, initiating year-round programming, establishing new partnerships, and increasing sponsorships, which collectively strengthened the organization’s capacity. Furthermore, she was recently nominated to the YWCA Circle of Distinction in the Inspired Innovation Award for her design and coordination of projects dedicated to the newcomer community.
Her dedication to professional development is evidenced by her selection into the competitive BMP Producer Academy 2023 Cohort (Beth Morrison Projects, New York). She has prolific production management experience in St. John’s, including work with TODOS Productions (Happy Anniversary, Newfoundlanded — November 2024 premiere) and White Rooster Theatre (The Heart Play, Song Seekers), Wonderbolt Productions (Off Balance — June 2024 and tour — September 2025), and Resource Centre for the Arts Theatre Company (There Is Nothing You Can Do). She was also the Communications Coordinator at Playwrights Atlantic Resource Centre (PARC) between April 2022 and October 2024.
Ana is also a mother to her three-year-old daughter, Isabel, and is deeply committed to fostering a vibrant and inclusive arts sector in Newfoundland and Labrador.
