Class Description
Whether you’re a beginner singer seeking confidence or an experienced chorister looking to sing your heart out, this inclusive and vibrant choir has a place for your voice. Our class is about freeing your voice and building community through music. Together, we’ll explore warm-ups and exercises to improve your individual voice while also learning to strengthen group dynamics.
Each class typically consists of thirty minutes of warm-ups and vocal exercises, followed by an hour of work on repertoire. Our goal is to perform three or four songs during our final class. During the first class, you’ll be placed in sections based on your voice type (soprano, alto, tenor, or bass). Most of the class is done collectively, but occasional sectional work is done when working on songs. You’ll have access to music sheets of the repertoire, but reading music isn’t a requirement.
The repertoire will be a mix of songs chosen by the teacher, ranging from typical choir pieces to choir arrangements of popular songs or even traditional music from different parts of the world.
The objective of this class is for you to sing, improve your singing, and perform during a very low-stakes open class at the end of the session.
Equipment required:
- Tablet or printed music (you’ll be given access to a Google Drive folder)
- Pencil
- Water bottle
