Class Description
This course is for anyone who wants to step out of their comfort zone in a safe and explorative space in order to learn the basics of theatrical performance.
Participants can sharpen some of their existing tools and/or get introduced to some new ones and learn how to use them. The more tools you acquire and the ease with which you access them will help your range but most importantly will allow you to stay present in the moment and have more fun!
Together we’ll be enjoying vocal and physical warm ups; focus games; improv exercises; text analysis; scene dynamics; character development; physicality and body awareness; active listening; movement; and ensemble work.
Participants can aim to leave with fewer inhibitions and a little more confidence! The last class will be an open class in order to add the final ingredient: the public. This will offer a glimpse of our time together that we’ll curate as an ensemble.

Artist-facilitator: Anne-Marie Saheb
A graduate of the Dawson College Professional Theatre Program, Anne-Marie works in both English and French in theatre, film and television. She is French-Canadian – Egyptian and learned Spanish while living in Honduras. She has performed in over 75 productions, most recently seen on tv in Plan B (KOTV / CBC), Sorcières (Amalga Créations / TVA), Le temps des framboises (Trio Orange / Illico); and on stage in Louis Riel (Infinithéâtre), The Last Show On Earth™ (Neptune), Foxfinder (Imago), Caisse/Checkout 606 (La Fille Du Laitier). Anne-Marie is a 2-time META nominee for Outstanding Supporting Performance, and a feature film in which she was a lead has received the People’s Choice Award at the Montreal World Film Festival. It was a true joy to be a mentor in Imago Theatre’s Artista program a few years back and it is now an absolute honor to be part of the teaching team for these courses at NTS. A mega thank you to Jessica Abdallah + Julie Tamiko Manning for making this happen. I look forward to meeting all the participants!
