This summer, we had the great pleasure of meeting Glyndebourne's Technical Director and NTS graduate, Éric Gautron (Creation and Production, 2003), to talk about his career and find out how this Franco-Manitoban ended up in the heart of the Sussex countryside.

The artistic and professional career of Guy Simard (Création et production, 1975) is replete with experiences and projects in theatre, dance, opera, circus, architecture, scenography and teaching. Through his involvement in hundreds of productions as a lighting designer, technical director, stage manager, production manager or technical consultant, he has acquired a strong reputation in Quebec, in the rest of Canada and around the world.  

In 2023, Guy is the recipient of the Gascon-Thomas Lifetime Achievement Award.

A graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada, Heather Redfern (Set and Costume Design, 1984) is the Executive Director of The Vancouver East Cultural Centre (The Cultch), where she curates a program of live and digital presentations and an extensive community engagement program.

In 2023, Heather is the recipient of the Gascon-Thomas Award for Innovation.

To celebrate Black History Month, the Bleviss Family Library shares reading suggestions of plays written by women of African descent. These scripts can all by perused and borrowed from the library. 

V and her Dream is a psychological thriller and dramatic short film. The main character, Zoey, wakes up in Toronto’s St. Michael’s Hospital, unsure as to how or why she ended up there. Unable to leave Zoey starts to dream and hallucinate her trauma until she finally confronts it.
