\u2014 ABOUT THE PROJECT<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Part film, part theatre, part community art initiative, The Last Children<\/em> was a deeply-felt, strangely-dreamed window into how it really feels to be a kid (or an adult) in these exceptionally anxious times. The Last Children<\/em> was a multi-faceted project that mixed reality and fiction, created by an ensemble of Regina youth working with professional theatre, film and visual artists from across the prairies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Last Children<\/em> imagines a world In the not-so-distant future. The oceans have flooded the prairies and an old man and an old woman \u2013 played by fourteen-year-olds Lazlo Paradis and Iris James \u2013 live together in a lighthouse, surrounded by a sea that was once Saskatchewan. They\u2019ve been here one hundred years, ever since the flood washed away their homes and families and twelve kids escaped the destruction in a homemade boat. A century later, only two remain. With nothing but themselves and their memories for company, these two old friends go about their routine and reflect on their remarkable lives, preparing for another great change on the horizon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Judy Wensel (Directing, 2018)<\/strong> is a director, creator, performer and teaching artist based in Saskatchewan. Her directing and\/or creation works have been presented at Summerworks (Toronto), Intrepid Theatre (Victoria), Theatre Alberta, Vancouver Improv Fest, Sum Theatre (Saskatoon), Found Festival (Edmonton), 2B Theatre (Halifax). Judy has been an artist-in-residence with Listen to Dis\u2019 and Riffel High School\u2019s Integrated Theatre Program, That\u2019s Possible. She is a frequent collaborator of Strange Victory Performance (Toronto\/Edmonton), FadaDance (Regina), and Curtain Razors Theatre (Regina), with whom she has been an Artistic Associate since 2015. Judy is a graduate of the BFA Acting Program at the U of R and the Directing program at National Theatre School of Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously at the Globe: Over 25 shows on both the mainstage and Sandbox Series as an actor, director and creator. Some acting favourites include The Alice Nocturne & The Drowning Girls. Some directing favourites include #34; Exit, Pursued by a Bear;.Gracie<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
