\u2014 ABOUT THE PROJECT<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The target community for this project are emerging and aspiring directors in Newfoundland and Labrador. The test audience will be in St. John\u2019s but I would also love to bring the workshop to different parts of the island where there are established and growing theatre communities such as Gander and Corner Brook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Specifically, I am interested in offering this training workshop to artists who haven\u2019t had access to education in theatre, whether because of financial, geographical, or cultural barriers. I will offer the workshop as many times as there is interest in taking it (always at no cost to the participants).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This workshop will be targeted towards theatre artists at any stage of their career who are interested in learning a different approach to assistant directing. It will be held in an accessible rehearsal studio so there will be no physical barrier to enrolling in the workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allison Kelly (Directing, 2024)<\/strong> is a director and actor from Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador. Before attending the National Theatre School to study directing, she worked professionally as an actor and theatre maker for 15 years. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (acting), and a Masters of Fine Arts (acting). Allison was a sessional teacher in the Fine Arts department at Memorial University of Newfoundland for 7 years before attending NTS. During her two years at NTS, Allison directed Sam Steiner\u2019s play Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons<\/em>, and Michael Cook\u2019s play Quiller<\/em>. She also directed Gillian Clark\u2019s play Trojan Kids<\/em> for her final project. Allison completed a TEC project on sketch comedy during her time at NTS. She worked with coaches such as Micheline Chevrier, Ann-Marie Kerr, Rose Plotek, Clea Minaker, and more.
